Resolution 040-1974 RESOLUTION NO. 40 -1974 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, has read and discussed the Five Year Report of the News Letter of the State Association of County Commissioners, and WHEREAS, the Board was particularly interested in the paragraph con- cerning transportation, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: THAT the Board agrees with and endorses part of the paragraph on page 2 of said report, reading as follows: First, we must be concerned with transportation. Traffic in many of our counties is staggering. County secondary monies are in- sufficient to fund but a fraction of our need. Additional road monies must be obtained. We should acquire the surplus license tag revenues which now are diverted into general revenue fund. We must insure that the State acquires all needed primary road rights of way rather than depending upon county secondary funds. We must have a master transportation plan. THAT this Board feels that the requirement for a referendum on the additional one cent gas tax should not be abolished. THAT copies of this Resolution be furnished to the Boards of County Commissioners of all Florida counties and to the State Assocition of County Commissioners. THAT all parties are urged to influence the State Legislators to con- sider the transportation problem and to pass proper legislation to take care of the problem. DATED April 23, 1974.
