RESOLUTION NO. lOl -1974
RESOLUTION FOR AFFIRMATIVE ACTION FOR IMPLEMENTATION
OF THE EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY ACT OF 1972
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida exists to serve all of the people of the said
County; and,
WHEREAS, all of the citizens of Monroe County are
guaranteed equal representation in their government by the
Federal and State constitution; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that there has been and still
is a disparity in the availability and quality of educational
and other services of the government, among certain disadvantaged
segments of the population; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that there should and must be
equal employment opportunity for all citizens regardless of race,
color, religion, sex, or national origin, and that it is the
responsibility of the government to provide these services; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that it is in the interest
of efficiency and effectiveness of the operations of government
that all citizens be allowed to make the greatest contribution
of which they are capable to their government, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA that it does hereby reaffirm its policy
to insure equal opportunity in employment for all persons to
prohibit discrimination in employment because of race, color,
religion, sex, or national origin, and to promote the fu111 re-
alization of equal employment opportunity through a continuing
affirmative program in each department of the County and to
be an integral part of every aspect of personnel policy and
practice in the employment, development, advancement and treat-
ment of employees of the County of Monroe to the maximum extent
possible.
BE IT FURTHER REOSLVED BY SAID BOARD that the County of
Monroe, will endeavor to assure full participation of all persons
contracting or providing services to the County of Monroe

and through cooperative effort to improve community conditions
which affect employment.
