Resolution 157-1974 RESOLUTION NO. 15~1974 WHEREAS, inflationary costs have resulted in additional demand on the County's revenues; and WHEREAS, the Laws of Florida, Chapter 74-430, provided that, "If the ad valorem tax revenues for the proposed budget for a govern- mental unit for operating funds exceed by 10% the ad valorem tax revenues for operating funds of the preceding year, exclusive of the revenues to be raised from new construction and improvements not appearing on the previous year's assessment roll, then the\govern- mental unit shall submit the. . .question to a referendum of the registered voters within that governmental unit. . ."; and WHEREAS, Federal Revenue Sharing monies represent approxi- mately 10% of Monroe County's General Fund, and the loss of such revenue would result in the curtailment of public services; and WHEREAS, General Revenue Sharing Legislation will be con- sidered by the 94th Congress, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that it does hereby urge that: 1. General Revenue Sharing be continued in its present form. 2. Passage of such General Revenue Sharing Legislation be a primary objective of our senators and congressmen. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the Monroe County delegation in Washington requesting support for General Revenue Sharing.
