RESOLUTION NO.17l -l975
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND REQUESTING THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO
CONSTRUCT STORAGE LANE AT INTERSECTION OF
U.S. HIGHWAY NO. 1 AND STATE ROAD 93l.
MARATHON, MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, great traffic congestion and driving hazards are
daily occurring at the intersection of U.S. Highway No.1. and
State Road 93l, Marathon, Monroe County, Florida because there is
no storage lane for vehicles making left turns from the southbound
lane of U.S. Highway No. 1 to the Grant City Shopping Plaza, and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners is
desirous that such a storage lane be constructed at the earliest
possible time by the Florida Department of Transportation and that
said construction costs be financed from Monroe County Secondary
Road funds, now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Florida Department of Transportation
is requested and hereby authorized to immediately draft plans and
specifications and construct a storage lane at the intersection of
U.S. Highway No. 1 and State Road 931, Marathon, Monroe County,
Florida, such storage lane to provide drivers proceeding in the
southbound lane of U.S. No. 1 a storage lane when turning left to
enter the Grant City Shopping Plaza.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD that the State of
Florida, Department of Transportation is authorized to pay for the
costs of said construction out of the Monroe County, Florida's
secondary road fund, and that certified copies of this resolution
be forwarded to the Department of Transportation, State of Florida
for appropriate action.
