Ordinance 020-1985County Commission ORDINANCE NO. 020 -1985 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE VII, SECTION 2-284 OF THE MONROE COUNTY CODE AND PROVIDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL PARAGRAPH THERETO TO BE ENTITLED PARAGRAPH "B"; PROVIDING THAT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SET FORTH THEREIN MAY BE EITHER AN INDIVIDUAL OR A CORPORATION FOR THE PURPOSES OF CONTRACTING FOR THE SERVICES OF SAID EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE TO THE EXTENT OF SAID CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION IN THE MONROE COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: Section 1. Chapter 2, Article VII, Section 2-284 is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 2-284. Executive Director. "(A). The Council shall appoint an Executive Director who shall initially be a part-time employee who shall receive a nominal salary fixed by the Council. The Council shall appoint a full-time director at such time as it becomes necessary and advisable to appoint an Executive Director who is a full-time employee, and that Director shall receive an appropriate salary fixed by the council. The Executive Director shall carry out the policies and programs established by the council; and may employ, subject to Council approval and budgetary considerations, such staff and consultants as are appropriate to carry out those policies and programs; and shall be in charge of the day-to-day operations of those policies and programs. (B). For the purpose of rendering the ser- vices as created by Ordinance No. 006-1980, Section 5, the Executive Director, as is provided for therein, shall be either an individual or a corporation, which shall furnish the services required by the Fine Arts Council. Any contract entered into for the Executive Director shall be recommended by the Fine Arts Council and approved by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida." Section 2. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or provision of this Ordinance is held invalid, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected by such invalidity. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. Section 4. The provisions of this Ordinance shall be included and incorporated in the Code of Ordinances of the County of Monroe, Florida, as an addition or amendment thereto, and shall be renumbered to conform to the uniform numbering system of the Code. Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon receipt of official notice from the Office of the Secretary of State of the State of Florida that this Ordinance has been filed with said Office.
