MONROE COUNTY,
ELECTRIC SYSTEM
KEYS.
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIeNERS ~
FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT TiE CTITX
SHARE POWER EQUALLY THROUGHOUT ~

WHEREAS, the devastating effect of Hurricane Andrew in South
Florida, especially Southwest Dade County, cut the supply of
electricity from the mainland to the Keys; and
WHEREAS, that area serviced by the Florida Keys Electric
Co-op., to-wit: that portion of the Keys north of the 7 -Mile
Bridge, has only limited electrical capacity which is currently
being used only to provide limited power to hospitals and certain
commercial and industrial areas essential to maintaining the
health, welfare and safety of the community; and
WHEREAS, it is desired that the City Electric System share
some of its electrical capacity, currently functioning on
generators, with the Co-op; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1.
That the City Electric System is hereby
requested to share electric power equally throughout the Keys.
Section 2. That the Clerk of the Board is hereby directed
to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Mr. Robert
Padron of the City Electric System.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a special meeting of said Board held
on the 27th day of August, A.D. 1992.
