ORDINANCE NO. 1-1972
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO AN ADVISOR Y POLUTION BOARD FOR
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS TO CREATE A MONROE COUNTY POLUTION BOARD
SETTING FOR TH THE METHOD OF APPOINTMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS
FOR MEMBERS OF SAID BOARD; DEFING SAID POLUTION BOARD'S
DUTIES; AUTHORIZING SAID BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TO BUDGET
FUNDS FOR OPERATING EXPENSES AND DESIGNATING THE MANNER IN
WHICH SAID FUNDS SHALL BE EXPENDED; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS
ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, may create an Advisory Pollution Board for Monroe County, Florida,
to be known as the 'tMonroe County Pollution Board'! consisting of eighteen
(18) members, who shall be appointed by said Board of County Commissioners,
who shall be residents of and qualified electors of Monroe County, Florida,
and shall serve at the pleasure of said Board.
Section 2. It shall be the duty of said Advisory Pollution Board to
investigate any violations of pollution laws of the State of Florida or Count y
Pollution Ordinances in Monroe County, Florida, outside of any municipality,
and to report the results of its investigations to the Board of County Commiss-
ioners or any state or other agency having jurisdiction over air, water and/or
land pollution in said County with recommendations concerning same and to
act in an advisory capacity in matters concerning pollution and to make reports
to said Board of County Commissioners of its meetings and activities.
Section 3. The Board of County Commissione rs is hereby authorized
to budget in its General Revenue Fund a sum of money not to exceed $500. 00 per
annum to be expended by aaid Advisory Pollution Board upon approval by said
Board of County Commissioners to defray its necessary operating expenses
such as supplies, secretarial services, stationery and postage. No compensation
shall be paid from said funds to any member of said Board, except a Board
member performing secretarial services.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon receipt of official
acknowledgment from the office of the Secretary of State of Florida, that
said Ordinance has been filed in said office.

Pursuant to the. provisions of Section 125.66, Florida
Statutes, this will acknowledge your letters of January 12 and
certified copies of Monroe County Ordinances Nos. 1-1972,
2-1972, 3-1971, and 4-1971.
Since all of these were adopted in 1972, we have re-
numbered them as Monroe 72-1, 72-2, 72-3, and 72-4,
respectively, and the ordinances were officially filed in this
office on January 17, 1972.
