Ordinance 002-1972 w 1111 • • ORDINANCE NO, 2- 1972 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO AN ADVISORY PLANNING BOARD FOR MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO CREATE A MONROE COUNTY PLANNING BOARD SETTING FORTH THE METHOD OF APPOINTMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERS OF SAID BOARD DEFINING SAID PLANNING BOARD'S DUTIES: AUTHORIZING SAID BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TO BUDGET FUNDS FOR OPERATING EXPENSES AND DESIGNATING THE MANNER IN WHICH SAID FUNDS SHALL BE EXPENDED: AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA.: Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, may create an Advisory Planning Board for Monroe County, Florida, to be known as the "Monroe County Planning Board" consisting of eighteen (18) members, who shall be appointed by said Board of County Commissioners, who shall be residents of and qualified electors of Monroe County, Florida, and shall serve at the pleasure of said Board. Section 2. It shall be the duty of said Advisory Planning Board to study any comprehensive plan for the development of all areas in Monroe County, Florida outside municipalities, to assist the Board of County Commissioner:s in holding public hearings prior to official adoption of any comprehensive plan prepared by any County planning consultants, to recommend to the Board of County Commissioners any changes in any comprehensive plan deemed desirable for the protection of the public welfare and economic development of the County, to perform any other services connected with the development plan for said County as directed by the Board of County Commissioners and to make reports to the Board of County Commissioners of it2 s meetings and activities. Section 3. The Board of County Commissioners is hereby authorized to budget in its General Revenue Fund a sum of money not to exceed $500 per annum to be expended by said Advisory Planning Board upon approval by -2- said Board of County Commissioners to defray its necessary operating expenses such as supplies, secretarial services, stationery and postage. No compensation shall be paid from said funds to any member of said Board except a Board member performing secretarial services. Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon receipt of official acknowledgment from the office of the Secretary of State of the State of Florida that said Ordinance has been filed in said office.
