Ordinance 003-1972 ORDINANCE NO. 3 -1972 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO CONTRACTOR CONTRACTOR CLAS-- SIFICATIONS IN MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA; AMENDING SECTION 2 OF CHAPTER 63-1654, LAWS OF FLORIDA, SPECIAL ACTS OF 1963, THE SAME BEING A LAW REQUIRING CERTIFICATES OF COMPETEN- CY FOR TRADES CONNECTED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY, BY ADDING AN ADDITIONAL CLASSIFICATION TO BE KNOWN AS "STAND- BY CONTRACTOR"; LIMITING THE ACTIVITIES OF SAID STAND-BY CON- TRACTOR; PROVIDING THAT SAID STAND-BY CONTRACTOR DOES NOT HAVE TO COMPLY WITH CERTAIN SECTIONS OF SAID CHAPTER 63-1654; AND AMENDING SECTION 10 OF SAID CHAPTER ESTABLISHING A FEE FOR SAID CERTIFICATE; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 2 of Chapter 63-1654, Laws of Florida, Special Acts of Florida, Special Acts of 1963, be, and the same is hereby amended by ad- ding paragraph (R-1) to read: (R-1) STAND-BY CONTRACTOR. 1. Any business entity having a valid contractor's certificate of compe- tency may qualify an individual as a contractor, and issue such individual a certificate marked "Stand-by Certificate of Competency", provided such stand- by contractor shall qualify in the same manner as other contractors in Monroe County, except that such stand-by contractor shall not be required to comply with the following provisions of Chapter 63-1654, Laws of Florida, Special Acts of 1963: (a) Section 6(B) (1) and (2) (b) Section 6(C) (5) (c) Section 6(F) (2) 2. Such stand-by contractor shall not function as a contractor in Monroe County unless the individual holding the contractor's certificate of competency for the firm by which he is employed is unable or unavailable to function as a contractor, in which event the stand-by contractor shall for a period of thirty (30) days be permitted to function for and in the place of the incapacitated or unavailable individual. Within the thirty-day period such stand-by contractor . J_ ti• �. S ® ® • shall complete his qualifications so as to fully qualify for the certificate, and failure to do so within the thirty-day period shall render his stand-by certifi- cate void. Section 2. Section 10 of chapter 63-1654, Special Acts of 1963, is amended by adding a line to read: "Stand-by Contractor $10. 00". Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect upon receipt of official ack- nowledgment from the office of the Secretary of State of the State of Florida that said Ordinance has been filed in said office.
