ORDINANCE NO. 6 -1972
BEING AN ORDINA.NCE PERTAINING TO MONROE COUNTY,
OFLORIDA.; RELATING TO ADVERTISEMENT OF COMPETI-
�� TIVE BIDDING ON CONTRACTS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
~ MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA.:
Section 1. No contract shall be let by the Board of County Comis-
sioners of Monroe County, Florida for the working of any road or street, the
construction or building of any bridge, the erecting or building of any house,
nor shall any goods, supplies or materials for county purposes or use be pur-
chased when the amount to be paid therefor by the County shall exceed Two
Thousand Five.Hundred Dollars ($2, 500. 00), unless notice thereof shall be
advertised once each week for at least two (2) weeks in some newspaper of
general circulation in the County, calling for bids upon the work to be done or
for the goods, supplies or materials to be purchased by the County, and in each
such case the bid of the lowest responsible bidder shall be accepted, unless
the County rejects all bids because the same are too high.
Section 2. Contracts may be let without advertising for bids for any
amount between Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2, 500. 00) and One
Thousand Dollars ($1, 000. 00), by said Board of County Commissioners for any
of the purposes set forth in Section 1 of this Ordinance if two or more proposals
are obtained from contractors, and in each such case the proposal of the lowest
responsible contractor shall be accepted, unless the County rejects all bids
because the same are too high. If only one proposal can be obtained, the
County may accept same if it deems the contractor responsible.
Section 3. Contracts may be let and purchases may be made for any
amount less than One Thousand Dollars ($1, 000. 00) for any of the purposes set
forth in Section 1 of this Ordinance by said Board of County Commissioners
provided a Purchase Order for same is approved by said Board.

Section 4. This Ordinance- shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption and the receipt by the Clerk of this Commission of acknowledgment
from the Secretary of the Department of State of its filing in his office.
