Attention:
Mr. Chris Pounds
Reference: Norment/Manchester Letter, Serial No, KJ-IC13-044 FILE:
Dear Mr, Pounds:
Pursuant to our previous discussions, MKJG forwarded the referenced letter to the Architect
requesting a formal written interpretation of the specifications in accordance with Article 2
of the Contract General Conditions, As you are aware, the Architect has responded that
they have interpreted the documents as being clear that facility wide coverage is required
and should be supplied by the contractor. A copy of their responding letter is enclosed for
your reference.
However, our review of the issue has identified some cost saving alternatives for the Owner.
Pursuant to our request, on 12/23/92 we received from your office a set of floor plans which
were cross-hatched indicating the areas of the facility that Norment/Manchester intended to
provide 100% man-down duress system coverage and is undisputed as being required by the
contract documents, We reviewed that document y,;th the Sheriffs Department and have
highlighted in orange areas that were not crosshatched which require coverage.
Accordingly, consider this letter direction to provide man-down duress coverage in
accordance with the Contract in those areas crosshatched by your office as well as those
areas highlighted in orange on the enclosed drawings at no additional cost to the Owner.
It is the Owner's intent to delete coverage in all other areas, As such, kindly forward to this
office your credit proposal for this deduction,
