KnRESOLU',f:I:ON OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE POSTAL OFFICIALS
TO RECONSIDER THE REQUEST OF THE CONTRACTOR OF THE
SUGARLOAF SHORES CONTRACT POSTAL STATION FOR INCREASED
COMPENSATION IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE LEVEL OF SERVICE
PROVIDED TO THE COMMUNITY IN PREVIOUS YEARS.

WHEREAS, the Sugarloaf Shores Contract Post Office provides
a vital service to the residents of that area, and
WHEREAS, in recent years the area of Sugarloaf Shores and
other areas serviced by this Post Office have experienced unprec-
edented development, and
WHEREAS, as a consequence of the aforesaid development, the
demand for postal services of the Sugarloaf Shores Contract
Postal Station has greatly increased, and
WHEREAS, the Sugar loaf Shores Station has managed to keep up
with the demand by an extraordinary effort on the part of the
agent operating the station, Al Griffin, and
WHEREAS, the compensation received by this contractor has
remained the same for the last five years, and
WHEREAS, with the increased cost of doing business the
contractor has applied to the postal officials for an increase in
compensation and was advised in December of 1990 that the in-
crease was denied, and
WHEREAS, the contractor has, as a consequence of this
denial, been required to reduce the services to the community,
and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of County Commission-
ers of Monroe County to solicit and urge the postal authorities
to reconsider the request for increased compensation for the
contractor, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the postal service be and it is
hereby requested to reconsider the contractor's request to
increase the payments made for and in consideration of the
services in operating the Sugarloaf Shores Contract Postal
, "
Station in order to facilitate the continuation of the excellent
services having been received by the members of the community
these past several years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY SAID BOARD, that the Clerk is
hereby directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to
Congressman Dante Fascell, Congressman Connie Mack, Senator Bob
Graham, and the postal officials in Miami.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
