A',RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF:'.. I .- ;M;ONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
C :::d~EX11ON AND FUNDING OF A STATE OF FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF ELDERLY AFFAIRS AND DIRECTING THE
CLERK TO SEND A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO
GOVERNOR LAWTON CHILES AND THE MONROE COUNTY
LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION.
RESOLUTION NO. 103-1991

\VHEREAS, Monroe County has a need for a State of Florida
Department of Elderly Affairs since over twenty-four (24) percent
of Monroe County's population is over 60 years of age, and
WHEREAS, funding for such a department will come directly
from state and local government, so that there will be a direct
cost saving to the elderly client, and
WHEREAS, public opinion is in favor of a Department of
Elderly Affairs as evidenced by a referendum ballot, and
WHEREAS, such a department will be a partnership between
state and local government which will expedite administrative
procedures, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA:

That the Board hereby supports the creation
and funding of a State of Florida Department of Elderly Affairs.
Section 2.
That the Clerk of the Board is hereby
directed to send a copy of this Resolution to Governor Lawton
Chiles and the Monroe County Legislative Delegation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the grtL day of 4/,1"'// 1991.
