CRAWL KEY FROM THE COASTAL BARRIER RESOURCES
SYSTEM.

WHEREAS, the Florida Keys have been designated by the
Legislature of the State of Florida as an Area of Critical State
Concern requiring the development and implementation of a
comprehensive plan and land development regulations; and
WHEREAS, the State and County statutes, ordinances and
guidelines require protection of the shoreline and marine
resources including mangroves, coral reef formations, seagrass
beds, wetlands, fish and wildlife and their habitat, as well as
upland resources and habitat; and
WHEREAS, Little Crawl Key has been included by the Federal
Government in its Coastal Barrier Resources System; and
WHEREAS, prior to the inclusion of Little Crawl Key in the
Coastal Barrier Resources System, roads, storm sewers, water-
lines, utilities and other infrastructure were completed in
anticipation of development on Little Crawl Key; and
WHEREAS, the County has platted Little Crawl Key for 25
single-family lots;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that it supports the I
necessary legislation to remove Little Crawl Key from the Federal ~
Coastal Barrier Resources System.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 5:1:. day of June In' A.D. 1991.
