AlmSOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF~MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, RECOMMENDING THAT THE
GGWRNOR OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA APPOINT MR.
GEORGE KUNDTZ TO FILL THE VACANT SOUTH FLORIDA
WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT BOARD SEAT.

WHEREAS,
representation on the South Florida Water
Management District Board is critical to Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kundtz is a former elected official from the
State of Ohio where he spearheaded the establishment of an
environmentally sound land use plan which prevented pollution and
depletion of an aquifer in his area. He introduced methods of
cost control which prevented tax increases, while maintaining
high quality services, during his eight years in office. He
retired from General Motors after 35 years of service in tool,
die and automation design, and construction. As supervisor of

and his work to protect the environment, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kundtz is a lifelong Democrat and civic
activist who has been a resident of Florida since 1982. He has a
reputation of doing exhaustive research on issues to improve the
quality of life and economics of Monroe County residents. He is
a past president of the Florida Keys Chapter of the Izaak Walton
League and is currently the Chairman of the Florida Keys Citizens
Coalition representing citizens throughout the county. He has
served on a committee appointed by State Representative Ron
Saunders to improve regulation of land use. He now serves as a
member of the Monroe County Solid Waste Task Force, and
WHEREAS, his special interest in economics, cost control and
environmental matters would be a vital asset to Monroe County and
the South Florida Water Management District, and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board hereby
recommends that the Governor of the State of Florida appoint Mr.
George Kundtz to fill the South Florida Water Management District
Board seat vacated by Mr. Charles Causey.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 28th
day of
August 1991.
