RESOLUTION NO. 543 -1989
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE SUB-
MISSION OF GRANT APPLICATIONS TO THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION FOR
RECYCLING AND WASTE TIRE GRANTS AND DIRECTING THE
ExE~UTION OF SAME BY THE PROPER COUNTY AUTHORITIES.

Grants on September 1, 1989, and
WHEREAS, applications under this program will be due on or
about October 2, 1989, and
WHEREAS, the said grant programs will assist communities in
initiating recycling as required by the Solid Waste Act of 1988,
and
WHEREAS, Monroe County desires to eliminate from its solid
waste stream as much recyclable material as possible, and
WHEREAS, Monroe County has entered into an Interlocal
Agreement with the Cities of Key West, Layton and Key Colony
Beach to set up a recycling program on a county-wide basis, and
WHEREAS, recycling will further the protection of our
environment and reduce threats to the health and safety of our
residents, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the County Administrator is hereby
directed to submit applications to the Florida Department of
Environmental Regulation for Recycling and Waste Tire Second Year
Grants and the Mayor of Monroe County is hereby authorized to
execute all necessary documents in furtherance thereof.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, at a regular meeting of the Board held on
the 20th day of September, 1989.
