RESOLUTION NO. 556 -1989
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMl-lIS-
SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING
THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONSTRUCT
NORTH-SOUTH TURNOFF LANES IN A CERTAIN
PORTION OF KEY LARGO, MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA.

~WHEREA~, Monroe County is in the process of implementing a

lrecy~ling c~nter in Key Largo, on a parcel of land, more
particularly described as follows:
Block 10, Lots 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44, of Sunset
Cove Subdivision, PBl-165, Key Largo, County of
Monroe, Florida, and
WHEREAS, due to the fact that traffic congestion is
anticipated to occur at the site of the recyc1ying center, it has
become necessary for Monroe County to request the Department of
Transportation of the State of Florida to construct north-south
turnoff lanes in the above-described area of Key Largo, Monroe
County, Florida, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. The Department of Transportation of the State of Florida
is hereby requested to construct north-south turnoff lanes in the
above-described area of Key Largo, Monroe County, Florida, in
order to alleviate anticipated traffic congestion at the future
recycling center in Key Largo.
2. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to forward a
certified copy of this Resolution to the Department of Transpor-
tation of the State of Florida for appropriate action.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 20th day of September, A.D. 1989.

Key Largo, Section 90060, Monroe County
This office is in receipt of the subject resolution requesting the
Department to construct turn-off lanes for a recycling center to be
located in Key Largo. Specifically, Block 10, Lots 40,41,42,43,
and 44, of Sunset Cove Subdivision, PBI-165 Key Largo, County of
Monroe.
In accordance with Florida Statutes, the Department is responsible
for regulating access to and from the State Highway System to ensure
the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the System. Of prime
concern is that the Department has not received any request for such
access permits from Monroe County.
Since, the recycling center is a new activity along the State Highway
System, the centers' impact to the System is unknown. We suggest that
a site-plan along with projected traffic data be furnished along with
thE~ completed driveway permit. (Four (4) copies of the plans and
pe)::mit will be required for processing).
If it is felt by Monroe County that deceleration lanes are warranted
for the recycling site, these lanes should also be shown on the site
plan.

UpJn review and approval of the plans and data submitted, a permit
will be issued and the driveway along with its' associated improve-
ments can be accomplished by Monroe County.
