The Honorable Shirley Freeman
Munroe County Commission, District 3
500 Whitehead Street
Key West Florida 33040
Dear COlumissionei' Ft"eemaalt
It is with some reluctance that I submit to you this Jetter of resignation from the Monroe
County Marine and Port Advisory Committee. It has been an honor tn serve the Roard of
County Commissioners in this capacity.
As you know, I tlccepted tl position as writer with the Key West Keynoter in July. At that
time, my editor and publisher each requested tbat I resign my post for fear ot' a conflict of
interest. I have delayed submitting this resignation while I discussed with them the
implications. After much deliberation, I find that I must agree with them. While I know
my own heart well enough to avoid any mch conflict, it is important to me that my
credibility as a writer be beyond question. And, while I will no longer serve the
cummunity throup. this appointed post, I hope to serve the community just as effectively
in my role as ajoumalis1.
Thank you for your cnnfidence in thilil appointment.
Sincerely ~
