Wayne Presnell of the National Weather Service's Key West bureau initiated the effort for this achievement, and will have the honor of making official presentation of the signs to Mayor McCoy. Americans live in the most severe weather prone country on Earth and Monroe County and the Florida Keys are the most likely location to be hit by a hunicane in the U.S, Your hard work and efforts in severe weather preparedness have given the citizens and visitors of the Florida Keys better chances of successfully minimizing losses during severe weather. As the County's emergency operations center, your preparedness efforts are very important. Ninety percent of all presidentially declared disasters are weather related. Now that you are a member of the StormReady program, you have the 8kills and education needed to survive severe weather - before and during the event. Monroe County is now better prepared to save lives from the onslaught of severe weather through better planning, education and awareness. The County will have fewer fatalities and property damage due to your valuable phuming before the dangerous weather anives. - . The office will receive 2 StOlmready road SIgns, authorization to use the Stnffi1ready logo and information concerning the notification of the Insurances Services Organization (ISO) for possible adjustment to insurance rates. The recognition WIll be valid for 2 years from the date of the formal announcement.
