ITEM BACKGROUND:
Mr. Otis Curry is a disabled veteran and owner of a mobile home located at 36C loth Street, Stock
Island. Mr. Curry has been a resident of Monroe County since 1969. Habitat for Humanity proposes
to replace the existing mobile home with a replacement unit with the benefit of Monroe County
Building Permit and in accordance with Monroe County codes.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
January '01 BOCC approved resolution 046-2001 providing $9,792.12 in recaptured CDBG
Elderly Homeowner Rehabilitation Program funds designated for homeowner property
rehabilitation to this project. Funds previously committed were not sufficient to complete the
rehabilitation and additional funding has now become available.

A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ASSIGNMENT OF ELDERLY
HOMEOWNER REHABILITATION PROGRAM FUNDS IN THE
AMOUNT OF $15,075 TO HABIT AT FOR HUMANITY OF KEY WEST
AND LOWER FLORIDA KEYS, INC. ON BEHALF OF THE VERY
LOW INCOME/HANDICAPPED HOUSEHOLD OF OTIS CURRY, 16C
10TH STREET, STOCK ISLAND, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, the Special Programs Office, Monroe County Housing Authority is the County's
program administrator for the County's Community Development Block Grant, Elderly Homeowner
Rehabilitation Program with the State of Florida; and,
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc. is a non-profit
entity recognized as a qualified partner providing construction and housing rehabilitation services to
very low and low income households in Monroe County; and,
WHEREAS, the value of the construction services provided far exceed the funding ia support
of this project; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County Florida tat Monroe County hereby:
Authorizes the expenditure by the Special Programs Office, Monroe County Housing Authority of
funding in the amount of an additional $15,075, which represents $13,570 from Account 100-01012-
530340 (Construction) and $1,505 from Account #100-01012-530341 (Administration), recaptured
under the Elderly Homeowner Rehabilitation Program for reimbursement to Habitat for Humanity of
Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc. for authorized costs in the rehabilitation ofthe property ofMr.
Otis Curry, a very low income household, located at 36C 1 oth Avenue, Stock Island, Florida
PASSED AND ADOPTED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida at a
regular meeting of said Board on the day of 2002.
