ITEM BACKGROUND: Albury Blvd. is adjacent to Old Settlers Park. It is part ofFDOT's right-of-way. Monroe County is desiring to expand Old Settlers Park by acquiring Albury Blvd. and use it for parking and landscaping. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: The BOCC has heard updates on Old Settlers Park on numerous occasions. Abandoning Albury Blvd. has been part of the overall master plan. DISPOSITION: Public Works RESOLUTION NO. -2002 A RESOWTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNlY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY. FLORIDA REQUESTING THAT -mE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION DECLAR.E ALBURY BOULEVARD IN TAVERNIER SURPLUS PROPERTY AND TRANSFER THE SAME TO MONR.OE COUNTY FOR INCORPORATION INTO OLD SETTLERS' PARK WHEREAS. Albury Boulevard in Tavernier functions only to provide additional access to Old Settlers' Park, which access is not needed; and WHERE~. the land occupied by Albury Boulevard would be more useful to the public if it were incorporated into an expanded Old Settlers' Park; now, therefore BE rr RESOLVED BY THE BOARI) OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Florida Department of Transportation is hereby requested to declare Albury Boulevard in Tavernier, Monroe County, Florida as surplus property and transfer ownership of the land occupied by Albury Boulevard to Monroe County for incorporation into a public park (Old Settlers' Park). Section 2. The Mayor is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County Commission, any documents needed to effectuate the transfer of Albury Boulevard to Monroe County. Section 3. The Public Works Director is directed to send certified copies of this Resolution to the officials within the Department of Transportation whose consent is necessary for the transfer of Albury Boulevard to Monroe Coun1y.
