I have been advised that the bill for our residents stay at die Key Colony Bay Hotel cannot be processed for payment due to
the fact that no Purchase Order (PO) was issued for those individuals who checked in on November 7. 2005,
Allow me to offer the fiollovaing explanation so that this matter may be resolved in a timely manner.
On Sunday, November 6, 2005, the Office of Emergency Management, as represented by myself., vas directed, by the
Monroe Count;- Department of Health (DOH) and the American Red Cross (ARC), to vacate our residents from the facility
being utilized as our Emergency Shelter, the Marathon Manor. It xkms through the of of Mr- Mike Puto, City Manager,
Marathon that our office was, on this day, able to secure accommodations at the Key Colony Bay Hotel (KCBH).
This direction was a result of the discovery within the Marathon Manor Facility, by the Department of Health, of
Aspergiflus, better known as "Black Mold".
During this period- time vas of the esscn, The Of of Emergency Matiagem ent was full- v cognizant of the potential
liabilities which would be encumbered by not seeking other immediate emergency accommodations, Because of the
expediency required during this relocation effort, no PO was requested atthis time.
I ,vould suggest that questions concerning any- other arrangements for accommodations at this facility be directed to Mr_
Mike Pena, City , Manager, Maratbon- who may ha-, e made additional room requests.
