EMERGENCY DIRECTIVE 2017 - 003
SUBJECT: WATER CONSERVATION — LIFTING RESTRICTIONS
. Whereas on Saturday, September 16, 2017, Monroe County issued an
Emergency Directive at the request of the Executive Director of the Florida Keys
Aqueduct Authority, which imposed emergency restrictions on the use of water for
sanitary purposes only while the FKAA worked to restore its system; and
Whereas on Monday afternoon, September 18, 2017, the FKAA's Executive
Director advised that sufficient repairs to the FKAA system have been completed to
alleviate the need for the continued restrictions; and
Whereas, the FKAA requests that the Emergency Directive restricting water
usage to certain sanitary purposes be lifted in favor of an advisory order recommending
against wasteful uses of water;
Now therefore, it is ORDERED that:
1. The Emergency Directive on Water Conservation issued on September 16, 2017
at 18:00 hours (6 pm) is hereby lifted in favor of an advisory order recommending
..:that residents'avoid wasteful uses of FKAA water. The advisory order shall
expire seven (7) days from the date of issuance unless extended or rescinded by
subsequent directive.
2. Per F.S. 252.46(2), this order shall take effect immediately upon being filed with
the Monroe County Clerk.
